Getting to Union Station in the Morning
If you are commuting to downtown Toronto, here is a breakdown of the best options from the Mississauga area.
1. The GO Train (Milton Line) - Highly Recommended
The fastest and most reliable way to get downtown.
- Stations: Cooksville GO or Erindale GO.
- Travel Time: Approximately 30–35 minutes to Union Station.
- Frequency: Trains run roughly every 30 minutes during peak morning hours (6 AM to 9 AM).
- Cost: Roughly $8.50 one-way (presto).
- Pro Tip: If you board at Cooksville, try to sit in the first 3 cars—it drops you closest to the York Concourse exit at Union.
2. MiWay to Kipling Subway
If the GO Train schedule doesn’t work for you, you can take a MiWay bus to Kipling Station and transfer to the TTC Line 2 (Bloor-Danforth).
- Travel Time: 50–70 minutes (depending on traffic).
- Cost: One MiWay fare ($3.10) + TTC fare ($3.30).
- Best for: Commuters who don’t want to rely on the strict GO Train schedule.
3. Driving / Rideshare
- Travel Time: 35 minutes on a good day, up to 90 minutes in heavy rain or snow.
- Cost: $20+ for parking downtown, plus gas.
- Verdict: Generally not recommended for daily commuting due to the QEW/Gardiner traffic and extreme parking costs.
